Exhibition History
Lester Johnson, a native Detroiter,
is a professor of drawing and painting at the College for Creative
Studies. His exhibition record includes the Detroit Institute of
Arts (twenty five shows); Whitney Museum of American Art (three
shows); Flint Institute of Arts; "Kilimanjaro", 1973;
Grand Rapids Art Museum; Saginaw Art Museum; Cranbrook Academy,
Museum of Art; University of Michigan, Museum of Art, Ann Arbor;
Michigan State University, Museum of Art, East Lansing; The Chicago
area includes; J. Walter Thompson Company; Loyola University; Barklay
Bank, LTD. The Washington, D.C. area includes: Parish Gallery -

Recent West Michigan exhibitions
include a one person exhibition "Passione" at the Saginaw
Art Museum, Kalamazoo Institute of Arts in 1986 and "Maiden
Voyage" at Western Michigan University in 1989. Art Center
of Battle Creek exhibitions include "Michigan Black Artists"
in 1987, "The 12th Michigan Artists Competition" in
1991 and Michigan Art Collection, 1998.
Recent exhibitions in the Flint
area include: Crossroads 1988 at the Buckham Fine Arts Project (with
Al Loving and Ed Clark), : Encore '89", (invitational) and
"Myths, Magic and Spirits" sponsored by the Greater Flint
Arts Council, 1990, and "Amandla," Kettering University
Humanities Art Center, 1991, and "Most Like Lee" (A Tribute
